Housing super location!
drawback: the room is small (no light, no possible opening of windows).
Logement super bien situé!
inconvénient : la chambre est petite (pas de lumiere, pas d'ouverture possible des fenetres).
Mike, the guy who is linving in the house is a nice guy, however John ask us for more money than the web request.
The room is a little small and the neighborhood from time to time noisy but otherwise the apartment is clean, it feels like a home ... the most is the metro station which is on the corner of the street !
La chambre est un peu petite et le voisinage de temps en temps bruyant mais sinon l'appart est propre, on s'y sent comme a la maison ... Le plus c'est la station de métro qui est au coin de la rue!
Our apartment rental on Wimdu went pretty much exactly as planned. We found something we liked; we checked availability; we booked; John got back to us promptly; we confirmed; we showed up (very late, as the flight into JFK was delayed) and we had an apartment to ourselves for 10 days, without a hitch.
Okay, there was one glitch with the heating in the apartment, which could have been a disaster, as the temperature was beastly cold when we arrived -- but John had taken care of it already by bringing in some portable heaters, and the problem was sorted out by the next day.
The apartment was more or less what we expected from the description and the photos, so there were no issues there. The wireless internet was very good. The location in Chinatown is great -- and the little Chinese bakery downstairs became our regular breakfast haunt. The one drawback (which of course we were aware of from the description before we booked) was that there's no washing machine in the apartment. But there are a number of laundromats (both self-serve and drop off) around the block, so dealing with laundry just needs some planning.
The location is perfect for a pan-New York visit. The apartment is close to the Canal St subway (which links you to pretty much everywhere) and is a stone's throw from the Manhattan Bridge with downtown Brooklyn just across the river. Great restaurants are right on the doorstep and fantastic shopping is within walking distance.
John and his contact person Mike were both very helpful and we had no issues there.
New York is always a great experience, and despite the cold, this time was no exception!
Great place and Mike was really nice! The appartment itself was very clean and I really liked that there were 2 seperate double beds. We had to share the bathroom and kitchen with 3 others, but this never caused any problems, since we could sign in for the bathroom each morning. The appartment is also almost next to a subway station, so you can easily travel all through Manhattan. Only downside of it that there was one window, but this could not be opened... Overall a great place for a good prize!
I Was in New York for one Week and I Was in this apartment. It's small badroom but really clean, very well equipped the kitchen, and really clean the restroom. Near to te subway, THE restorants too.
My teenage daughter and I rented a room in january 2015. It was during wintertime so it was cold outside. The heater in the house works perfectly but it was a little bit too warm for us compared to the outside temperature. Opening the only openable window in the living room, or sleeping with the airconditioning on, helped a bit to reduce the heat.
The room is located at an ideal, central place in Lower Manhattan. The beds were fantastic to sleep on. Mike is a very friendly and hospitable man who gave us the feeling that his house was our house.
We spent a week staying in this apartment, good is more a study.
This centrally located, near the metro green line 6, quiet, the calefacion on all day and did not spend any q cold.
Cookware in poor condition (it appeared the pans nonstick), only the front door had a lock and gives a lot of insecurity, because the apartment is in the same street.
Maik host was very kind to let us be three hours more to leave our bags and go to the airport.
Hemos estado una semana alojados en este apartamento, bueno es mas un estudio.
Puntos a favor:
NYC is always fantastic, the apartment was however not. It was either freezing cold or very warm. It wasn't possible to adjust the heat. 2 out of 6 days there was no hot water at all. No hot water = no shower! Several of the wals was not painted and the sofa was compleatly warren out. Full of holes. The entertains and stears is very dirty and the backyard is best described as slum, with thousands of smoked cigarettes laying among other waste. The worst was however all the bird droppings on old air-conditions hanging from the windows in the backyard . We are talking of years without cleaning. 40 ~ 60 cm high "mountains" of bird droppings. And then on top of that the apartment is approx. 50 meters from Manhattan brigde, with a train passing every 2 minutes, 24/7. You can not belive the noise! Manhattan John (Mike) is a nice guy, but this apartment should newer have been rented out to tourists.
